New Baby Health Guide
We all know how to take care of ourselves but when the time of raising a baby comes, the normal procedures do not work. Babies must be treated extra carefully; here are a few guidelines to ensure that your baby stays healthy.
As with a lot of cases, prevention is the better option to cure. The best way to make sure your baby builds immunity is through breast feeding. In the initial stages, breast milk is the only source of nutrition for the baby and experts all over the world agree that it is the best one too. In addition to providing the needed nutrients, it also helps build immunity in the baby. Any other food can only be a supplement.
Baby skin is very soft and sensitive. For this reason, make sure that you dress your baby in cotton or woolen clothes. These will keep the baby comfortable and will not cause any damage to the skin like synthetics or polyesters do. Never dress the baby too thick as he or she can suffocate inside. There should always be plenty of room for air flow; studies show that babies are more comfortable this way. In addition, make sure you always wash or disinfect your hands before dressing or even holding the baby as germs from your skin can infect the baby.
Diapers provide great comfort to both the baby and the parents and they must be used whenever necessary. However, they should be changed as soon as they are soiled. Though they are absorbent, they can still cause rashes on the baby’s skin. Whenever you use a diaper, ensure that it fits the baby snugly and is not too tight or loose.
It is absolutely essential for babies to get vaccinated and your doctor will provide the appropriate schedule. Please stick to it and make sure that the vaccinations are carried out in proper order. In case of any infection, avoid using any antibiotics as they can seriously affect the baby’s digestion. Instead, just let it sort itself out as it will help build immunity or take the advice of your doctor.
Taking care of babies is not easy but with a little help, it can be done. Follow our guidelines and take your doctor’s advice whenever necessary and your baby will be in good health!
